My Professional Background

Hi, my name is James— and I'm a creative Web Designer/Developer with over 11 years of experience in web development. Yes, I can moon walk too so I've been told.

Background

It was a great challenge to emerge into the creative industry from an entirely different career path— I had spent my earlier years in a non-creative industry and role. My strong and sincere passion for design won out, coupled with years of determination.

I actually just simply love designing usable web sites and compelling creatives. Having grown up in a creative environment and into an artistic family, the instinct to develop my own abilities were strong from a young age.

I always draw design inspiration from my surroundings - past and present. From urban city life that instilled core usability instincts from childhood to the majestic contrasts in nature in all the places I've lived across North America.

Professional Strengths

My core strengths lie with hand coding semantic/responsive HTML and CSS based markup and web interface design and illustration. However, my skill set has broadened to embrace PHP/MySQL and motion graphics.

In addition, I prototype out UX flows and always consider usability standards.

I always have a freelance project going - and this has given me invaluable real world experience in Online Marketing. Taking a web presence from a Design Prototype into a real marketing strategy - and to see it actually sustain a profit is fantastic.

Recent Accomplishments

In my current role as a lead Web Designer , I've had the opportunity to establish and manage a new brand for an online application from the ground up. Collaborating with a creative team for several years, it's exciting to see it mature and evolve.
